Internal Auditor, USA Operations

The Position: 

The successful candidate will perform operational and financial audits of various functional and business areas for our coal mining, real estate development, coke manufacturing, and corporate offices in United States. This includes assisting in preparing audit plans, leading and executing audit procedures, identifying and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls, assessing business risk, recommending control improvements, and assisting in preparing audit reports in order to provide management with an independent appraisal of the internal control environment.

Location: 

The position will be based in Birmingham, AL.  Some South American and domestic travel will be required.

Requirements: 

• CPA or CIA


• 3-5 years public accounting (preferably with a national firm) and auditing experience


• BA/BS in Finance, Accounting or (similar discipline)


• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 15 to 20 percent required


• Superb communication, reputation, and integrity required

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge and understanding of People Soft and auditing software applications


• Bilingual Spanish/English


• Related experience with manufacturing or natural resources companies


• The ability to analyze and evaluate complex transactions and processes with some direction


• Develop written and verbal observations in a concise and informative manner


• Demonstrate project and time management abilities
