The BD Manager’s primary objective is to develop better intelligence, a deeper understanding, and improved relationships with key customers in order to provide expanded opportunities for contract and product sales. The BD Manager is devoted to the International Military Markets. This individual will work on behalf of the Survivability Group, with overall QinetiQ North America, LLC / Technology Solutions Group strategic interests in mind. The BD Manager will be charged with understanding, monitoring, and influencing customers where possible. They will provide insight to customer organizational structures, decision makers, budgets and development plans. The BD Manager will also be responsible for appropriate communications within to aid in business development efforts with that customer and managing an international representative network and qualifying new sales representative. The BD Manager will be responsible for working across the QinetiQ North America, LLC / Technology Solutions Group to identify new contract opportunities, influence them and support the proposal and capture efforts necessary to secure awards within their customer bases.
Primary Accountabilities:
Specific customer focus/lead customer interface
Significant time/presence near customer or user locations
Opportunity development and tracking
Budget tracking and identification of interest areas
Sales forecasting by customer
Customer advocacy within the survivability space
Work with Groups and Strategic Portfolio Managers
Understand organization, budgets, and strategic plans
Provide business intelligence to company
Expand recognition and influence of QinetiQ North America, LLC/Technology Solutions Group
Introductions of senior officials
Committee participation at customer level
Symposium/exhibition planning by customer
Coordinate industry/university teaming to address customer needs
Participate in proposal development to reflect customer knowledge
This position requires a minimum of 8+ years experience within the International Business development/procurement infra-tructure and an ability to proactively mine and communicate business opportunities within the International marketplace. A minimum of a B.S. is required with a graduate degree in engineering or business preferred. The BD Manager will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. The incumbent will be required to exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The ability to coordinate large business efforts within a diversified business structure with multi-disciplinary teams is essential. This individual will work closely with peers and group management to develop successful methods to generate a consistent pipeline of activity and will act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
Ability to travel up to 50% at time will also be required.
