We are seeking a hands-on, energetic team player to manage the overall shipping of chemical and hazardous goods, logistics, packaging, and product distribution for all domestic and international shipments.
Essential Duties:
Responsible for working with shipping team, customer care representatives, manufacturing/production team and freight forwarders to ensure a timely shipment of all orders to domestic and international customers.
Manages the day-to-day operations and staff of the shipping area by preparing all departmental work schedules and communicating changes in order to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are completed.
Provide support and guidance to customer care representatives for customer interaction regarding customized shipping instructions and needs.
Finalizes paperwork to move and/or accompany orders or shipments completely and accurately to avoid penalties/fines, i.e., inland bills of lading, pack slips, hazardous declaration forms.
Ensure all export shipments have proper documentation such as commercial invoice, proforma invoice and shipper's letter of instructions.
Attend Certified Training programs for International shipping regulations and requirements
Problem-solves supply and distribution logistical issues in collaboration with teams throughout the organization by evaluating supply and distribution methods, and recommending cost effective solutions based on needs and capabilities.
Analyzes freight costs and explores methods of reducing total cost to customer.
Co-ordinate with freight forwarders regarding shipping requirements, hazardous goods limitations, pick-up times and other special arrangements.
Reports major discrepancies and late-shipments to evaluate and approves freight forwarders and authorizes preferred vendor status
Audit invoices against freight quotes, researches discrepancies, matches, processes and approves for payment.
Establishes and attains department quality management strategies and regularly tracks and reports metrics associated with these.
Maintain work area in a neat, organized and clean manner at all times. Must follow 5S standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years experience in hazardous materials shipping and receiving.
- Expert with shipping softwares, such as Fed-Ex and UPS
- Must be “hands on” type person
- Must be well organized with good analytical, computer and communication skills
