Internet Marketing/Category Manager to join major dynamic consumer goods manufacturer located in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Skilled incumbent will develop and execute category plans for assigned categories that deliver maximum results for Direct to Consumer business channel. This position is the primary force behind e-commerce and catalog initiatives with the primary focus being customer acquisition and category development.
Works closely with product development, purchasing, marketing and operations groups to deliver new business opportunities while managing the existing product selection.
The position has P&L responsibility for multiple categories and sales platforms. The position is responsible for integrating customer, supplier, on-line strategies and business needs to develop profitable business plans that stimulate growth for this channel.
The candidate will collaborate closely with merchandising peers and the Marketing team to develop the optimal product mix recommendations for all catalogs and multiple e-commerce platforms. While conducting monthly category reviews, this individual sets the overall direction for assortment optimization, pricing and promotions, new product/business opportunities, life cycle management and marketing opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead the development and execution of category plans for assigned categories to maximize profitability for direct to consumer internet division:
· Manage product sourcing and external supplier relationship management
· Conduct monthly category reviews utilizing both internal and external data sources to determine right product assortment
· Optimize warehouse and fulfillment process via accurate and timely forecasting
· Drive new item introduction by partnering with product development team to create, test and expand new products and item/label/size modifications
· Conduct regular pricing benchmarking and analysis to set prices that maximize sales and profit margins (monitor daily gross profit fluctuations and trends)
· Implement search advertising promotions (SEO, Paid Search) in order to drive additional sales, increase conversion and customer acquisition rates.
· Provide category insights and assortment direction to improve the customer experience and proper categorization
· Support all marketing and operational initiatives
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Consumer packaged goods experience
· 5+ years of product management including 2+ years e-commerce experience.
· SEO/Paid search knowledge
· Bachelors degree preferred in Marketing, Sales or equivalent professional experience.
· Financial acumen
OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
· Work experience within consumer packaged goods product management, direct to consumer business experience preferred
· Knowledge of syndicated data (ACN and/or IRI) and key sales/trade marketing analytics helpful
· Knowledge of European languages (French, German) or Asian languages desireable
