Sergeant’s Pet Care Products has an exciting opening for an Inventory & Production Cost Accountant. This full-time position is located in Kansas City, Kansas.

 

Position Summary:

The Inventory & Production Accountant will be responsible for processing and entering the information required for daily product production, accurate cost accounting and the management of inventories required to support a multi shift production environment.  This position will also work closely with material handling, receiving & shipping, cycle counting and overall inventory control.   Providing front office support related to reporting time, processing invoices, packaging prep and shipping, visitor greeting, manager administrative support and other related duties.  The incumbent will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these critical areas within a busy manufacturing facility.    

 

Responsibilities:

·         Daily review and entry of all paperwork and related information in the management system that is associated with accurate production of products.  Ensure that any deviations in the paperwork or the production process are investigated and resolved.

·         Create a daily production report and send to management on the performance of the facility the previous day.

·         Supervise the material handlers in all functions related to shipping, receiving, transferring, inventory, production support, cycle counting and housekeeping and safety within the warehouses and the product transfer areas.

·         Work closely with accounting in the corporate office to ensure that all accounting functions are being followed and new processes and procedures are being introduced to improve the overall operation of the facility.

·         Work closely with purchasing in the corporate office to verify inventory status and timely receipt of raw materials for production.

·         Maintain accurate records of all receipts, shipments and transfers.

·         Conduct daily / weekly cycle counts required to maintain an accurate inventory of raw materials and finished products.

·         Provide monthly reports to management on the overall performance of the facility related to budget and predetermined standards.

·         Review production standards and scrap factors monthly to ensure continuous improvement.

·         Manage the warehouse layout and ensure proper warehouse management processes are followed at all times.

·         Interact daily with facility management to ensure that all accounting, inventory and production supply requirements are being satisfied.

·         Manage the front office activities to include greeting visitors, mail / overnight package handling, ordering supplies and materials throughout the plant.

·         Verifying and processing weekly time for all production associates and sending to corporate office.

·         Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide the highest degree of customer service.

·         Provide training to plant personnel to assure accurate production and reporting of same.

 

 

Position Qualifications and Requirements:

·         Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

·         Excellent leadership qualities, technical skills, people skills and the ability to work without daily direction.

·         Ideal candidate will have 2 or more years experience as an accounting professional in a manufacturing cost and/or inventory accounting role.

·         Experience in staff supervision

·         Exceptional Excel and MRP skills

·         Problem solving skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment

·         Strong analytical skills and the ability to anticipate and resolve problems.

·         Ability to analyze inventory discrepancies and communicate information to the facility manager, purchasing and corporate accounting for appropriate corrective action.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to communicate and work effectively in groups or teams.

·         Capability to work on several projects simultaneously.
