GENERAL DESCRIPTION:



Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventory, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts. Also, coordinate activities in expediting flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between areas of production.



GENERAL DUTIES:



Lead the assigned area insuring safety, quality, production, cost control and continuous improvement objectives are met.



Supervise and train shipping, issuing, receiving, and inventory personnel.



Develop, maintain and improve receiving, inventory, and shipping department process.



Assign shipping, receiving, issuing, and inventory duties as required.



Supervise the inventory reporting, counting, and reconciliation process.



Establish controls and insure accuracy of required inventory.



Ensure all receipts are properly handled; i.e. quantity correctness, part numbers, and purchase order numbers from the shippers match original documents.



Ensure that all materials used in the job are appropriately charged to the correct job.



Investigate, document, and implement corrections to departmental problems including preventive action.



Establish appropriate production controls and properly protect and control all inventory.



Ensure inventory data base reflects actual on hand inventory.



Identify potential and repeat potential and/or actual inventory problems.



Ensure inventory accuracy and continually strive to reduce inventory and overstock.



Work closely with the Purchasing Department and support Shop parts requirements.



Take corrective and preventive action in standardizes to ensure efficiency of work.



Foster and build strong relationships within workforce in assigned area.



Provide direction, coaching, feedback and discipline to employees.



Effectively communicate company policies and objectives to workforce in assigned area.



Perform administrative work necessary for proper documentation.



Examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.



Maintain a clean and well organized work area at all time.



Perform other duties as assigned.



MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:



Two or four year degree in production planning, inventory control, or related field, or equivalent experience in materials for military use preferably for ships and/or small boats.



5 (+) years of supervisory experience.



5 (+) years of inventory or logistics experience.



Excellent communications and leadership skills.



Advance knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Project, Excel, etc.) and Deltek CostPoint.



Understand MILSPECS and be able to read and understand drawings.



Be able to multi-task in high stress situations.



Extensive attention to detail, ability to multi-task and the drive to take ownership in ones work.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 40 lbs.



WALKING and CLIMBING. Ability to climb up to four (4) flights of stairs and climb ladders.



Must have a valid driver’s license in the state and required to comply with Company’s Safety Policy.
