Portfolio Solutions, LLC is a nationally recognized investment management firm headquartered in Troy, Michigan.  The firm currently manages approximately $725 million in client assets for private clients, corporate pension plans, non-profit institutions and endowments.  As a result of Portfolio Solutions, LLC rapid growth and increasing demand for its products and services we are searching for an Investment Advisor to join our team in our Troy, Michigan office.


 


Responsibilities:


The Investment Advisor position does not require direct selling of products and/or services.  The primary role of the candidate will be to provide ongoing investment advisory advice and guidance to a broad range of existing and new clients that include: individuals, qualified retirement accounts, pension plans, charitable and non-profit endowment accounts.  The ideal candidate will be highly organized, extremely detail oriented, self-motivated, able to handle confidential information, as well as a demonstrated ability to respond effectively to changing work loads and priorities. 


 


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Maintain an in-depth working knowledge of Portfolio Solutions, LLC investment philosophy and investment strategies that will be used on a daily basis through direct client communication.
  • Solid understanding of investment products, types of investment accounts, investment planning, tax strategies, and personal fiduciary issues.
  • Analyze client needs, goals and objectives and recommend appropriate investment strategies.
  • Answer all client questions about the purposes and details of their investment strategy and/or investment transactions in their investment portfolios.
  • Provide advice to clients who have life changing circumstances that may impact their current and future investment strategy (i.e. retirement, inheritance, change in tax status, etc.)
  • Handle daily client questions via telephone interaction, email communication or face-to-face meetings and prioritize and delegate tasks to be resolved.
  • Research and communicate with clients regarding specific investment related topics both reactively and proactively.
  • Prepare various client requested reports in the areas of asset allocation, realized and unrealized gains/losses, investment performance, cash flow (dividend and interest) projections, etc.
  • Provide clients with ongoing advice and guidance regarding the use of appropriate investment risk and return strategies.
  • Proactively evaluating and assessing client needs through ongoing consultation as required or requested.
  • Maintaining a high level of expertise on all relevant current market developments including but not limited to: current market performance, yield curves, asset classes, styles and size of equity markets.
  • Demonstrate accountability for client relationships and coordinate internal activities to ensure an integrated team environment and consistent flow of information and activities.
  • Participate in initiatives that are focused on improving client relationships and retention of clients and assets under management. 

 


 


Qualifications and Technical Experience:



  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in investment management and/or financial advisory roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Candidates must be relationship minded and committed to providing the highest level of advice at all times.
  • Investment planning and management acumen, judgment and experience.
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in a small company environment.
  • Exceptional prioritization and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and sound judgment.
  • Able to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner; both oral and written.
