Investment Director - Mercer Investment Management
The Investment Director will be responsible for delivering all aspects of the investment advisory and asset management services of Mercer Investment Management. The advisory services we offer encompass all traditional investment consulting services such as strategic asset allocation, portfolio structure design, performance monitoring. The asset management component will be via the MGI multi-manager funds. Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Oversight, coordination and delivery of all advisory, asset management and reporting services for Mercer's clients.
- Oversight and project management of asset allocation and portfolio structuring analyses, working closely with the Mercer portfolio management team and Mercer affiliates whom Mercer Investment Management might employ for assistance with asset liability modeling etc.
- Develop investment guidelines and strategy working closely with clients and Mercer's portfolio management team.
- Relationship management including building strong, close relationships with clients.
- Attendance at quarterly client meetings including making presentations to investment committees.
- Represent the Mercer portfolio management team at prospect meeting working with Mercer Investment Management's sales force.
- Participate in Mercer's investment team meetings to understand capital markets performance, performance of MGI's funds including the underlying investment managers in order to explain performance to our clients.
- Participate in due diligence meetings with investment managers at Mercer's offices and contribute informally to the investment team's research effort.
- Work closely with colleagues in Mercer on bundled client relationships where we may be proving asset management and actuarial and/or administration services.
- Peer review of all client deliverables such as quarterly investment reviews and special studies.
- Assisting with new client transitions including the coordination of asset management and trust/custody relationships to Mercer's platform.
- 8+ years of investment experience with at least five years in a senior investment consulting or portfolio management role.
- Experience researching and recommending investment managers as a consultant, or asset allocation and security selection experience in a portfolio management role or portfolio specialist role across equity and fixed income asset classes is required.
- Broad knowledge of investments, compliance procedures, trust, custody, and investment manager inter-relationships is required.
- An MBA/M.A. and/or CFA is strongly preferred.
- The candidate must be able to multi-task, manage projects, demonstrate creativity, flexible to handle responsibilities beyond the core job, and be articulate.
- He/she must have an ability to roll up the sleeves and delve into projects personally with attention to detail.
- The candidate must be well rounded and be able to articulate why joining Mercer Investment Management would be appealing from a career perspective.
- Easy going personality, ability to work very collaboratively, a willingness to mentor is imperative.
