What you will do

managing, processing, and integrating data is at the heart of many
organizational digital transformations. The IoT Data Architect will help us
design and build our products and services to bring insights, efficiency,
reliability, and value to our partners and customers. The IoT Data Architect
defines and builds the systems that bring together data from disparate systems,
and transforms and unifies the data necessary to enable smart environments and
cyberphysical systems. 


How you will do it

  • Plan, develop, test, and document software for
    connecting assets, people, places and other software and data products to the
    JCI Cloud and Data Platform

  • Work
    with customers to understand problem domains and data models, and with our
    organization to communicate features to our product development, support
    organizations, and our customers

  • Develop
    and define data models, ontologies, ingestion and ETL processes, data
    transformations, and processing pipelines, while being mindful of data security
    and privacy.

  • Work with software developers, operations teams,
    data scientists, and product managers to deliver data products, services, and

  • Occasional travel will be required

What we look for

  • Degree (MS/PhD preferred) in CS/EE/Information Studies,
    or a degree and demonstrated technical abilities in similar areas.

  • Strong written skills and the ability to
    effective communicate technical analyses and results to stakeholders

  • Experience with one or more programming
    languages, including but not limited to: Python, Java, C#, C++, Javascript,
    Golang, Scala, Rust

  • Deep experience with SQL and multiple Relational
    Database Management Systems with non-trivial databases.

  • Experience with information architecture for
    complex domains

  • Familiarity with the tools and languages of data
    modeling and metadata management, such as UML, BPMN, XML, XSLT, RDF, OWL,
    SPARQL, and linked data.

  • Hands-on experience with public clouds such as
    Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or the Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience with Big Data management systems such
    as Hadoop or Spark

  • Experience with Machine Learning/NLP/Data
    Science packages, and data toolkits such as Numpy/Pandas, Stanford NER,
    OpenRefine, Trifacta, Tamr, scikit, SpaCy, etc.

  • Familiarity with front-end web development and
    single-page HTML5 applications

  • Helpful: Experience with domain data and
    standards from the built environment/security/industrial controls helpful, such
    as SCADA, BACnet, OPC-UA, BIM models, IFC, CANbus
