JAVA / J2EE Developer

SRA is helping reshape the way agencies across the government use technology and business policies and practices to improve the quality of services they deliver. SRA provides resources to support the various government client projects including but not limited to project management, development management, business and requirements analysis, and Java programming, database development and administration, systems administration, and testing.


SRA is currently seeking a JAVA / J2EE Developer / Software Engineer, who will be involved in several key IT initiatives with our government client, work directly onsite with the client in downtown DC (Union Station).

Key responsibilities across various projects include:
  • Develop interface / broker applications between Informix and SQL database systems, developing an application that acts as a web service between 94 district court databases writing to one main court case management system.
  • Assist with the integration of a court case management system and add enhancements to a document management system
  • Develop a Violent Criminal Application (VCA) from scratch, which will be used to provide information to local law enforcement
  • Make enhancements to a Google map program.
  • Work with the following products/technologies: Java, J2EE, SQL, XML, JDBC, web services, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Work independently and with 2 other Developers - peer review each other work, perform code review, support each other with database and application design
  • Review programming and operational issues and plans with Senior Management.
  • Develop detailed design plans and implement the plans once approved.
  • Liaise with the SRA's federal government client to fulfill contract requirements for the program

    • Required Skills and Experience: 

  • 2+ years of Java, J2EE application development experience.
  • 3-5 years of web application development.
  • 1-3 years of web services development
  • Knowledge of formal methods of software development.
  • Experience with the following products/technologies:
    Java, J2EE, SQL, XML, JDBC, web services, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Linux operating systems
  • Experience helping produce detailed design and database design documentation
