Java Software Developers (Lead, Sr, and ETL Data Warehouse)

Our client, a growing 3 year old company based in downtown Washington, DC, is looking to build and enhance their JAVA Development Team.  They have three immediate positions to fill:

1)     A Lead Java Software Developer to code and lead a small Web Applications team,

2)     A Senior Level Java Developer for that team, and

3)     A Mid Level Java developer with strong SQL and ETL skills, to help build and manage their huge data warehouses. 

These folks will work on an exciting new set of products to help progressive organizations run more effective voter contact programs.

Description:
The Java Software Developers will help build and support our client’s on-going list of products, as well as help the company shape the future of progressive politics by creating the next generation of voter contact and political advocacy tools.  The successful candidate will become a member of an existing development team and will support a large well-maintained data warehouse system for a national organization, providing data services to some of the world’s most recognized progressive political organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Working closely with customers and customer representatives to understand functional software requirements.

·        Turning functional software requirements into technology used to build the company’s suite of tools.

·        Verifying software solutions correctly meet project goals.

·        Developing and maintaining product plans and product documentation.

·        Developing project functional and implementation plans.

·        Providing feedback on specific product features and designs.

·        Working independently and as part of a team.

·        Willing to support the development organization as necessary and not be afraid to get his/her hands dirty.

Qualifications:

• Must have 4 to 8 years’ experience with Java and Java development tools; other OO experience considered.  (Java, Hibernate, Subversion, Tomcat)
  
• Experience leading a team of developers, for the team lead position
  
• For the ETL Developer position, strong ETL skills working with at least one of the following databases Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.

• Experience with other web-based technologies a plus.
  
• Experience with at least one scripting language – Bash, Perl, PHP, etc.
  
• Experience with one or more RDBMS – Oracle, MySQL, etc.
  
• Experience building APIs and with systems integration.
  
• Strong technical analysis and problem solving skills.
  
• Previous experience in an Agile work environment a plus.
  
• Previous experience with Apache Tapestry is a plus

• Must be able to work effectively on the MS Windows and Linux platforms.
  
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking and web-based technologies.
  
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
  
• Interest in progressive politics.
  
• Authorization to work in the US without employer assistance is preferred.
  
• Must be willing to join as a full time employee (e.g., no corp to corp).
  
• Must be willing to work in the downtown Washington, DC office.
