SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position must be capable of working independently and as part of a team to perform routine to advanced analysis, design, and problem solving tasks, and to write or modify advanced programs to satisfy user requests according to departmental standards, policies and procedures.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

· This position works to perform routine to advanced analysis, design, and problem solving tasks, and to write or modify advanced programs to satisfy user requests according to departmental standards, policies and procedures. Perform analysis, design, and problem solving tasks of simple to medium complexity as well as maintain appropriate SLC documents.

· Write, configure, build and/or modify advanced software, tools and/or application programs.

· Assist with the creation of test cases, and participate in unit and integration testing. .

· Perform analysis, design and development of complex RPG IV or RPG (ILE), CL and SQL400 programs.

· Read and understand existing programs to validate against provided business requirements and modify or enhance them if required.

· Work in a team environment and multi-task if the situation demands.

· Provide support for additional PC based POS related systems

SKILLS NECESSARY:

· Knowledge of retail business process concepts and techniques, software applications and tools.

· Knowledge of computer programming language concepts and techniques, software applications and tools as well as the standards established within the current environment for their use.

· Ability to apply structured application analysis, design and database practices as well as the knowledge and application of the software development tools and methodologies.

· Ability to function as a team player.

· Ability to effectively communicate in a courteous and professional manner and to assist in preparation of presentations for management.

· Skill in utilizing good judgment in application of technical skills.

· Ability to balance multiple concurrent projects of varying priorities.

· Over three years of experience in JDA AS400 development using RPG to support Retail Sales functions is required.

· A self starter with a strong desire and capability to learn new software and systems to support the business.

· Proficiency in PC based applications such as Microsoft EXCEL & ACCESS is required

· Familiarity with PC based POS systems and support systems is desired

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Business related field, or equivalent.

· A minimum of two years of experience at a Developer II level or equivalent also required.
