Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR), located at the Pelagic Fisheries Research Program (PFRP) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds.
Minimum Monthly Salary: $2,552/Mon.
Duties: Develops, maintains, tests and documents public open source Automatic Differentiation Model Builder (ADMB) software written in C/C++ programming language. Collaborates with Core Developers for software development. Maintains Linux, Windows, Solaris and Mac OS testing systems. Supports software end users. Maintains source code version control system. Conducts library research on computer algorithms.
primary Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics. Experience: One to three (1-3) years of working experience in coding computer programs with C/C++ programming language. Abil/Know/Skills: Considerable knowledge of coding practices necessary for programming instructions. Considerable knowledge of block programming, flow charting and procedural report presentation. Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and techniques. Knowledge of the terminology, accepted practices, and procedures of the programs of systems analyzed. Knowledge of at least two (2) computer object oriented programming languages including C++. Knowledge of using Make for the project build system. Knowledge of using the command line in Windows and UNIX operating systems. Ability to prepare clear, detailed programs of instructions for efficient machine utilization. Physical/Medical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry twenty-five to fifty (25-50) pounds of computer supplies and peripheral hardware.
SECONDARY Qualifications: Knowledge of using ADMB software to develop models; Knowledge of Doxygen software used to document source code; Knowledge of unit testing; Knowledge of developing for Mac OS; Knowledge of Borland C++, Microsoft Visual C++ and GNU Compiler Collection (GCC); Knowledge of Subversion software for source code version control; Knowledge of continuous integration methods and software for use in developing software.
