EXPERIENCE

The following are job requirements:

            - a BSCS or equivalent with 5+ years of experience

            - fluent in French and English

            - expert Java Programmer

            - experience with EJB 3.0

The following would be advantages to the successful candidate:

            - experience with Aspect Oriented Programming

            - familiarity with Flash programming

RESPONSIBILITIES


 This position reports to the leader of the Software Competency Center within the Advanced Development Center.  This group is responsible for creating, testing, and maintaining a distribution of re-usable software libraries that will be shared throughout Thomson's products.  The initial focus is on the products with embedded software (e.g., STBs, Home Gateways, Media Gateways).    The person filling this position will be responsible for ensuring the flexibility and integrity of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and frameworks such as EJB 3.0.   The position requires working collaboratively with the business units to understand their needs, make recommendations as to the use of packages, and ensure the packages are implemented in a flexible, modular manner that supports white-box testing.   The successful candidate would have a good understanding of the fundamentals of java interfaces including persistence, transaction processing, concurrency control, and security.
