Juvenile Products Designer and Project Manager- (Soft and Hard Goods)

About the Job

Summary:

 

The ideal candidate will have a blend of industrial design experience in both hard and soft consumer goods and project management.  The candidate will be an integral part of the new product development team- sketching initial concepts, refining them and creating concept and control drawings using CAD, Solid Works, Photoshop as needed.  The candidate will also will manage new products from beginning to end by managing major milestones to completion on time, within budget and ensuring established product objectives are met.  The candidate will manage schedules, budges, route for approvals, communicate status and next steps to key team members.  The candidate will also work closely with our Hong Kong office to source, quote and launch new product production.

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Lead project management process for design projects

 

  1. Work with design and marketing teams to develop schedules budges and communicate project status and next steps.

 

 

  1. Update and manage project status documents

 

  1. Manage logistical aspects of projects and keep team on schedule

 

 

  1. Manage costing process, sample creation and delivery through Hong Kong Office

 

  1. Develops innovative concepts for a wide range of juvenile products using strong industrial design (including soft goods) skills and mechanical engineering principals.

 

  1. Provides good hand sketching and image development for presentation renderings.

 

  1. Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D CAD and Solid Works.

 

  1. Prepares control drawings, parts lists and descriptions for the construction of prototypes, tooling models and fabric patterns

 

  1. Create bread boards and models

 

  1. Develop products that involve a variety of materials and processes including plastics, metal and fabric.  Fabric experience is necessary.  Familiarity with plastics and metal is preferred.

 

  1. Participate in formal and informal product reviews.

 

  1. Handle all other duties as assigned.

Understands the business objectives related to design and consumer projects.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; inventory software; development software; design software and internet software.

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
