Summarize the primary function of the position:
The Laboratory Analyst I is responsible for assuring that test method execution is performed to validated procedures and that MTF requirements for testing services at the Microbiology Laboratory is fulfilled to the established departmental procedures.
Describe the major elements of the position in order of importance
1. Perform membrane filtration, analytical titrations, residual moisture, and environmental testing according to MTF SOP’s, industry and USP standards.
2. Perform LAL-Endotoxin antibody assay testing using microplate-kinetic chromogenic reader technology.
3. Perform environmental plate testing and other chemical testing for chemical solutions and purified water..
4. Perform routine testing documentation review and reconciliation.
5. Perform SOP’S and WI’S review in Mastercontrol for the necessary testing and analyses.
6. Troubleshoot instrumentation as required for the various methodologies.
7. Maintain Facility / Calibration records for the lab and instrumentation as required.
8. Perform data entry functions as needed using the Blaze LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and the MTF email system as new configurations and processes require.
9. Perform data review for sample throughput daily.
10. Prepare and review for approval documents for Master Control when required.
11. Weekends, holidays and overtime work may be required.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
13. Interface with QE-Laboratory management and team leader as required for the review / interpretation of test results.
Job Qualifications (education, certification, experience, knowledge, skills, physical requirements)
1. B.S. in Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or engineering science related field required.
2. Minimum of three years experience in a clinical, environmental or industrial laboratory setting preferred.
3. Must be skilled in analytical and laboratory techniques within a laboratory setting.
4. Must be computer literate and capable to use Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook and the LIMS database.
5. Knowledge of GLPs/GMPs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S), and USP methods required.
6. Must be articulate, well organized, possess good communication skills and be able to work independently as well as with others.
7. Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
