Supports the Laboratory Manager with managing the laboratories at each site and the personnel. Reviews protocols in the context of laboratory requirements and arranges for scheduling, ordering of supplies and training of all laboratory staff. Ensures the safe, timely and appropriate processing, storage and shipping of biological specimens collected. The Lab Supervisor oversees the quality of daily processing for samples processed by the laboratory technicians on shift.
Key Accountabilities Including but not limited to the following and other duties as may be assigned:
' Works closely with CRC's in setting up lab processes, procedures and supplies for new studies
' Maintains inventory of supplies and is responsible for ordering/purchasing of laboratory and medical supplies for all respective laboratories.
' Conducts quality checks (e.g. processing, storage, documentation) on Laboratory Associates and Technicians.
' Organizes weekly shipping schedule for all study protocol specimens in Early Phase.
' Communicates with CRC's weekly for scheduling laboratory staffing needs.
' Possesses detailed knowledge of study protocol lab procedures.
' Represents the laboratory in client meetings (e.g. SIV Meetings, Specialized Training Sessions, etc.) as a back-up to the Laboratory Manager.
' Supports lab collection, processing and transport/shipment of safety labs according to clinical study protocol as needed
' Organizes laboratory set-up and supplies (i.e., racks, logs, dry ice, shipping supplies).
' Creates daily lab supply list per protocol.
' QAs tube/container labels before and after specimen collection.
' Schedules lab specimen pickup.
' Contacts Sponsor to confirm arrival of specimen shipments.
' Attends Laboratory, CRC, and Early Phase staff meetings as required.
' Creates all laboratory documents for every protocol (e.g. PK logs, PK labels, Urine logs, etc.)
' Maintains daily upkeep of all lab areas (e.g. decontamination, organization, completion of lab checklists, etc.)
' Assists in protocol feasibility review for the laboratory
' Backs-up representation for the laboratory when interacting with GAMC's laboratory liaison or manager.
' Maintains and updates knowledge of Clinical Operating Guidelines and their proper application.
' All other duties as assigned Skills

Education ' BA or BS in related science field required ' Valid Phlebotomy Certification and/or California State Licensure preferred ' Valid CPR certification
Language Skills ' English
