Laboratory Technician

AB Mauri Fleischmann’s is seeking a Laboratory Technician to be located in its Memphis, TN plant.  The Lab Tech will perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality control and yeast product development.

Responsibilities:

Set up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.  Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.  Test ingredients, materials and solutions, and test samples of manufactured yeast products to verify conformity to specifications.  Record test results and write test reports describing procedures used.  Prepare graphs and charts.  Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment. Calibrate laboratory instruments.

We are seeking candidates with a combination if the following skills and knowledge:  Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemistry or Biology.  Associate's degree (A.A.) in Chemistry or Biology from two year college or technical school.  Positive attitude and ability to be coached.  Two years’ experience and/or training in a lab setting.  Experience working in a team environment.  Ability to operate basic laboratory equipment and tools.  Familiarity with basic scientific terminology.  Familiarity with basic computer operation.  Experience in food processing, pharmaceuticals, and/or fermentation.  Ability to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
