Job Description:

The Lead / Specialist is viewed as an expert in the administration and support of database technology. Undertake complex projects requiring additional technical knowledge and make decisions on ambiguous administrative and support issues. Communicate common goals and direction for the team. You may interface with management to provide project updates.

Functions:


  • Identify, test, and deploy all database technologies and support tools (detailed knowledge of SMP/E, JCL, TSO, ISPF, and SQL)

  • Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented

  • Be responsible for verifying all data to be entered into database (meet set standards and requirements)

  • Design, enter, audit and maintain large, complex databases

  • Lead others to identify, test, and resolve complex database performance issues (monitoring and tuning)

  • Perform database system management functions (software installations, version upgrades, and configuration management)

  • Define and develop database standards, procedures, and architecture

  • Design data models and DW database designs

  • Facilitate project planning by establishing work plans, estimates, milestones, and schedules

  • Provide team with technical training and/or mentoring



Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Undergraduate Degree in related field or equivalent

  • At least 6 years of database administration experience in a large, mainframe environment

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)



Experience Required:

  • DB2 V8 (NFM) on zOS platform

  • Data Sharing Environment

  • SQL Tuning (Dynamic and Static) using Explain

  • DB2 System Tuning

  • Disaster recovery experience

  • Data warehouse on DB2 z/OS



Preferences:

  • DB2 V9 (including migration from V8)

  • IBM DBA Tools

  • Query Monitor

  • Experience with large tables

  • Experience with LOBs

  • Experience with Star Joins

  • DB2 Connect experience

  • Omegamon DB2
