Lead Database Administrator (Non-Management)

Description:
Database Manager provides expertise in the most current principles and practices of managing data base systems (preferably Oracle and Microsoft Access- Based) and possesses the ability to design and review databases based upon user requirements. Also possesses the ability to maintain a database system for which new applications are being planned and incorporated. Information specialist provides expertise in compiling, arranging, storing and retrieval of information to facilitate support of an FAA customer, project or program, and develops the SCAP processes and procedures.

The DBA will administer, install and monitor {10g} database and application server environments for both development, testing and production systems. Essential functions include the following: create and maintain all databases & application servers required for development, testing, training and production, perform ongoing tuning of the database instances, configure, tune and optimize application servers, databases, applications and Unix platforms, evaluate Oracle new releases/patches and its tools and ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate.

Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and migrate all databases, backup/Recover database files and objects, implement security for all of the databases, provide technical support to application development team, administer all database objects and users, troubleshoot any problem with application, database, application server and any development tools, create Unix scripts to process batch jobs, analyze database statistics report from various tools (e.g., utlbstat/utlestat and statspack) and reports. Must be a team player with the ability to work under time sensitive deadlines. Strong ability to multitask.

Qualifications:
Successful completion of a post secondary school curriculum leading to an associates degree in an appropriate discipline or a vocational or technical school certificate indicating that post secondary school education and training in the information systems field has been completed.

A minimum of ten years experience in the information systems or database management career field with at least two years experience as a project manager or team leader on some type of database (preferably Oracle and Microsoft Access- Based) or information systems design and development project is required. At least 7 years of Oracle experience is required. ORACLE Certified Database Administrator (9i minimum).

Unix platform experience, as well as Windows System Application experience. Experience with designing and developing a project.
