Job Description

Lead Engineer, Hydro Automation

Voith Hydro is looking for a Lead Engineer in Hydro Automation for our York, PA facility.


 


 


Summary:


 


Provides project technical leadership for Hydro Automation and related scope from contract award through completion of project.  This includes the design making process throughout the project, interpretation of the contract documents, providing interface between company and customer, as well as functions as needed to successfully complete project profitability goals and project schedule.  Provides technical leadership at the proposal phase of the project whenever possible.


 


 


 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • As part of a multi-functional project team for large product projects, provides the technical leadership for Hydro Automation and related scope from Design Engineering through Purchasing, Manufacturing and Factory Testing, and Field Operations, including Commissioning, Warranty and Close Out.  Has co-responsibility for project profitability goals (margins, cash flow quality costs) and project schedule, together with the Contract Administrator assigned to the project.


  • Leads the Engineering team (Software/Hardware/Commissioning) assigned to the project:


  • Takes ownership of all Engineering documentation released for the project.


  • Provides input into project schedule for integration into the master schedule.  This includes the definition of the major milestones and coordination with the master scheduler to identify critical path(s).


  • Plans, organizes and monitors all operations to insure compliance with the project plan, and manages variances to the plan. While periodically, reports on status, risks and opportunities.


  • Performs the work of a Hydro Automation Engineer as dictated by project scope or allocated project resources or any other individual contributor assignment given to him.


  • Facilitate decisions that involve multiple functions including costs, schedule and priorities.


  • Interfaces with customer as required, with definition of interface through the Project Manager.


  • Provides review of project team members for input to performance review.


  • Establishes, makes assignment, and assures completion of documentation required for the project for commissioning and operation/maintenance.


  • Contribute to short and long term objectives of Engineering and the Company in general for process improvement and standardization.

 


 


Education:


 


Graduate engineer of an accredited school, BSEE or BSME.  However, related work experience in the control field can be acceptable with lesser education.


Professional registration is preferred.


 


 


 


Special Knowledge or Skills:



  • Knowledge of hardware and software as applicable to Controls for Hydro machinery.

  • Must be able to lead multi-functional teams, and work well with other to obtain effective results.

  • Proficient in MS Office.

  • Should have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Hydro Control & Governor experience.

  • Ideal candidate will also have a minimum of two (2) years in a lead engineer or supervisory role.
