Lead Planner/Scheduler

About the Job

Lead Planner and Scheduler, Managing master schedules, Primavera Version 6 and  HP PPM.

 

Candidate will function as SME for the implementation and setup of the tool, and then help to transition projects already in progress into the tool.  We are looking for a lead  Planner/Scheduler to Assist our government clients in designing, developing, and maintaining detailed resource-loaded schedules in Primavera, and HP PPM.  Develops, manages, and/or executes all phases of either the cost control effort or the planning/scheduling effort for one or more of the large, most complex and demanding projects. 

 

  • Provides project and company management with the necessary tools for project cost control.  May participate in the development of the work breakdown structure, interfacing with all affected departments.  
  • Support proposal development as it relates to project scheduling, planning, and PPM tools and best practices.  May support business development efforts by gathering and presenting a variety of background data.  Presentations may be of an informal or formal nature. 
  • May lead a team who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, and forecast project costs and performance.  Coordinates staffing requirements, assigns and supervises project work activities, and trains personnel.  Completes performance reviews and provides personnel development for the assigned employees. 
  • Accumulates and accesses historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting.  
  • May lead a staff who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, forecast, and report schedule status against an established baseline.  Assesses the impact(s) of design/construction changes and schedule slippages.  Develops or maintains an established system to show the hierarchy of plans and schedules; keeps project and company management fully informed. 
  • Customizes project control systems to meet specific project requirements.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

  • Individual must be able to work independently as well as be a contributing member of the entire Operations team.
  • The candidate must have excellent organizational and analytical skills. Individual must be adept in the use of MS office products including Excel, Viso, powerpoint, and word
  • Candidate must be able to work in diverse environments and multi-task. Requires the skills to create a course of action or solve a problem by conducting research, conceiving and developing new and innovative ideas, theories, and/or solutions, and predicting possible outcomes.
  • Preparation of Earned Value Reports, Burn Reports, and PMRs

  • Capable of obtaining and Top Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited university in either Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • 7-10  years of experience in a lower-level Project Controls position is required, as well as some experience in a leadership capacity.

 SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: 

 

Requires basic IT services and engineering knowledge, or a related field.  Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used in the Project Controls Department, such as Excel, Primavera, and Document and Materials Controls System (DMCS).  Proven leadership capability, as well as familiarity with industry practices is required.  Extensive Experience with Primavera P6 and HP PPM  is required.  Experience with EVM reporting and evaluation.
