The Principal Analyst will analyze the performance of existing registration and auditing provisions and associated business solutions and establish the needed tools, processes, and procedures to support the Demand Response registration, auditing, and testing responsibilities under the Forward Capacity Market. The Principal Analyst will also be responsible for providing direction and leadership to high priority issues for Market Services. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background working with demand response, energy efficiency and other load management strategies.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading teams to advance the interests and business needs of the Resource Registration and Performance Auditing group
- Acting as Functional Lead for Resource Registration and Performance Auditing projects and assignments
- Developing and delivering detailed documentation such as memorandums, presentations, white papers, processes and procedures based upon detailed analysis in the support of projects/assignments
- Identifying and implementing efficiencies and improvements in processes, procedures, and systems
- Collaborating with a variety of internal and external constituents to develop, test, implement, and ensure a successful transition to new or revised business systems and processes
- Ensuring routine auditing and registration processes are completed in conformance with the governing rules and internal business procedures
- Developing recommendations for the ISO and NEPOOL to facilitate approval of registration and auditing initiatives through the stakeholder process and committee/industry meetings, preparing and delivering presentations, position papers and memoranda as needed
- Developing, updating and maintaining business processes and supporting documentation
- Reviewing the performance of supply and demand response

Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or Communications or equivalent experience
- Principal level: 12+ years of analytic experience in the utility industry, or related experience such as consulting
- Lead level: 8+ years of stated experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience leading cross functional teams solving complex issues or projects.
- Familiarity with Demand Response programs, energy efficiency measures, and related state and federal regulations
- Thorough understanding of electricity market structure and operations
- Detailed knowledge of the rules and procedures governing the administration of ISO New England’s markets
- Proficiency in using Analytical Reporting Tools such as SQL, Oracle Discoverer or other database querying tools
- Understanding of ISO functions and cross-departmental dependencies as they relate to the Markets and Market Participant issues
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis, interpret results, and effectively communicate results
- Strong project management and facilitation skills
- Excellent oral, written, communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
Desirable qualities include: - Understanding of the various governing documents, including the ISO Tariff, Market Rule 1, and Operating Manuals and Procedures
- Experience in other ISOs/RTOs, particularly with resource registration and performance auditing and monitoring functions
- Advanced degree preferred
