Position Description Saudi Aramco, a global leader in the energy industry, is seeking experienced professionals to join our growing Chemicals Business organization. Saudi Aramco aims to maximize the refining/petrochemicals integration opportunities throughout the company’s refining assets and to bring the level of integration of those assets to be comparable or to accede best in class integrated facilities. We have an immediate requirement for an experienced Lead Estimator with the below descriptions. The basic function is to provide high-level professional advice and guidance in the analysis and preparation of capital cost estimates for multi-million dollar petrochemical projects. As a recognized company expert, the successful candidate prepares budget estimates for major capital projects for use in the Chemicals Business and JVs. Knowledge and experience in contingency analysis and risks assessment in the bidding process and execution of these projects is essential.
Minimum Requirements A bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; an M.S. is a plus.
Proficiency in using estimating software like K-Base, ACCE, Timberline and other computer applications such as Excel, Word, Access, etc.
12 years of experience in major refining and petrochemical capital projects with diversified experience in engineering and construction, with emphasis on estimating and cost control.
Excellent command of oral and written English.
Must be capable of exercising cost control of capital projects where precedents are lacking or on problems where a high degree of specialized knowledge is required. Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and networking skills.
A demonstrated ability to interface effectively with internal engineering, facility planning and technical service groups.
Flexibility for travelling both domestically and internationally.
Duties & Responsibilities Provides professional expertise and consultation in accurately forecasting costs for complex petrochemical projects.
Runs K-Base (Icarus), ACCE, Timberline and other such computer applications for capital cost estimation of olefins, aromatics and other petrochemical projects.
Identifies potential cost overrun situations and recommends corrective action.
Provides consultation to Section personnel on cost and estimating problems where precedents or cost histories are lacking.
Maintains a library of cost data of all projects.
Runs K-Base, ACCE, Timberline and such other computer applications for capital cost estimation of olefins, aromatics and other petrochemical projects.
Provides professional expertise and high level consultation in the resolution of complex estimating and cost engineering problems.
Provides budget and conceptual estimates for Saudi Aramco capital projects as requested commensurate with the requirements of the stage gate process from FEL-1 to FID.
Participates in estimate review sessions for capital projects.
Prepares special studies related to current and/or long range impacts, such as cost escalation and productivity.
Keeps current with developments in the estimating and cost engineering fields and with construction practices and trends worldwide, with emphasis on Saudi Arabia.
Prepares pricing documents using the industry database and/or contractor/vendor bid documents.
Reviews and acknowledges estimates prepared by engineering contractor(s) during the Study and Project Execution phases.
