Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Systems Engineer will provide overall technical coordination and systems leadership for GEMx battery for UPS applications. In this role, you will develop and manage overall product development schedule for UPS applications, gain an understanding of the GEMx battery from a macro level, and understand the different tier UPS systems and GEMx battery chemical, mechanical and electrical subsystem interactions.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Work with the subsystems to assure all designs will integrate properly when applied to the overall system
  • Hold system level design reviews to provide functional requirements and requirement traceability
  • Attend design reviews and provide input as the systems integrator
  • Understand trade-offs and work with program team to help come to a consensus
  • Work closely with Marketing, Proposal Leaders, and the Commercial team to insure all requirements (customer, internal, and regulated) are evaluated and flowed down to the design teams
  • Coordinate the required activities to obtain the required certifications from the certification agencies like UL, RoHS
  • Develop all necessary systems documentation for the program including requirements documents, configuration documents, and systems test documents
  • Manage the validation planning and testing to insure that the product is validated and meets the documented requirements
  • Participate in the proposal process to assure that only sound technical solutions are offered to customers and the proposed designs are feasible and will meet the overall UPS system requirements

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years product design experience

  • Masters degree
  • Ability to make tradeoffs between various subsystem to optimize performance, cost and time requirements
  • Experience with Battery, UPS applications, Electrical systems
  • Experience in designing systems to certification agency requirements and standards as applied to UPS battery systems
  • Expertise in lower level design, troubleshooting and testing
  • Project scheduling experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership experience and strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Accomplishments that reflect teamwork, integrity, accountability and speed
