In this role you will be responsible for operating within the CommTest Global Quality organization with direct responsibility for leadership, coordination, training and support of Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives and projects working with teams and/or individuals within CommTest.
Job functions and responsibilities include:
o Identify appropriate tools for use by teams or individuals in execution and support of the Lean and 6 Sigma CommTest wide initiatives.
o Provide training and/or coordinate training resources in use of pertinent tools in support of the Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives.
o Work with management to identify opportunities for utilization of applicable tools in support of Lean and 6 Sigma improvement projects.
o Solicit input from various sites within CommTest to assess the level of training and support necessary.
o Lead and coordinate learning events CommTest wide.
o Drive the use of the acquired tools in pertinent applications to perpetuate the benefits of the tools.
o Provide coaching for Greenbelts in support of their various projects as well as the Black Belt certification process.
o Lead Kaizen events as applicable.
o Provide ongoing coaching and assessment for active initiatives.
o Act as a central resource (point of contact) for all CommTest in terms of Lean & 6 Sigma knowledge and tools.
o Organize “re-fresher” or new tool training as deemed necessary.
o Coordinate and support ad-hoc learning sessions or topic specific coaching events.
o Provide periodic program and project status updates to management.
o Work in conjunction with other JDSU divisions as applicable.
o Continually assess the overall level of Lean & 6 Sigma programs and their impact.
Qualifications
o Minimum 3 years of experience in leading and participating in Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives and projects with tangible benefits to the enterprise.
o Black Belt certification.
o Thorough understanding of Lean principles and tools.
o Self–motivated, energetic and task driven individual.
o Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks in multiple locations.
o Exposure to both operations and business side of a global enterprise.
o Able to work hands-on as well as a facilitator of project teams.
o Experience working with cross functional teams and/or project management.
o In-depth understanding of statistical concepts.
o Good teaching and training skills – ability to hold effective training sessions.
o Capable of creating enthusiastic acceptance of concepts and tools as related to Lean & 6 Sigma.
o Ability to lead and successfully complete high-impact projects.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Ability to travel and work effectively globally.
o BS in engineering discipline or combination of education and experience in the field.
o Proficiency in use of Microsoft software suite and other pertinent tools.
