Learning & Development Manager

Job Description:

 

The Learning & Development Manager will lead the learning strategy and performance solutions supporting Health Benefit Services (HBS).

Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Responsible for managing the learning and development function for Health Benefit Services (HBS). 
  • Responsible for facilitating the relationship between HBS and Learning & Development.  Acts as the single point of contact for HBS senior leaders to define the needs and building the needs assessment to the implementation of learning programs which includes procedure documentation, development of training curriculum and delivering training.  Ensures training is effective and makes adjustments accordingly.
  • Monitors projects to ensure requests are met on time.
  • Consults with all levels of management regarding current and future developmental needs.  Assignments are received in the form of objectives. 
  • Provides guidance to subordinates based on organization goals and company policy.  Time is split among management, personal consulting, and other HBS related activities.

 

Partners with human resource staff and senior managers to strategize, identify and define developmental needs which require an evaluation of intangible variance factors.  Develops department budget.  Exercises usual authority of a manager, including selection and development of staff.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • 10+ years experience with learning development theory (ISD), practices and programs.
  • Strong creative problem solving, project management and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building, developing and leading a team of high performing professionals, including ensuring the balance of speed to market, cost, and quality in the development of learning solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Understanding of performance management process.
  • Proven program/project management skills.
  • Strong internal consulting skills.
