Leave of Absence Manager

Amazon is seeking a delivery-oriented manager to lead our Leave of Absence (LOA) program. This hands-on role will liaise with employees, managers and Human Resources to provide business solutions for a dynamic and growing organization. In addition to owning a small case load, objectives for this role will include enhancing our existing LOA program, providing LOA policy guidance, and managing a small team in delivering Amazon quality service to our employees.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Defining key performance indicators - develop metrics and service level agreements for core LOA services and transactions, track delivery against program objectives, lead improvement initiatives and encourage a culture of efficiency, innovation, and customer service
  • Driving operational excellence - build LOA processes and tools that ensure a high quality employee experience as well as compliance with leave of absence policies, document audit methodology and implement ongoing audit procedures
  • Scaling existing services - expand coverage of existing LOA services to additional locations and lines of business - successfully manage all aspects of program implementation working in partnership with local business and HR teams
  • Evaluating new proposals - identify project opportunities that address service gaps, process inefficiencies, or emerging service requirements, develop the business case for new initiatives, and provide project management
  • Building cross-functional partnership - work closely with Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and other departments important to the administration of the  LOA program, develop strong partnerships with HR Managers and HR business partners across locations
  • Developing team capabilities - work at an individual and team level to develop HR and leadership skills, provide stretch opportunities to advance the team and provide career development opportunities for team members

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of HR program and project management in a high volume environment supporting a geographically distributed employee population.

  • 5+ years of HR or related experience, knowledge of employment law and familiarity with leave of absence policies desired
  • 3+ years experience managing and developing direct reports
  • Successful record of building and improving operational processes and procedures, ability to drive program efficiency and high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrated program ownership and consistent delivery on commitments - great organizational skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail
  • Strategic view, able to perform cost benefit analyses, accurately assess risk, forecast both long and short-term outcomes, and evaluate the implications in a complex business environment
  • Exceptional analytical skills, comfortable working with large amounts of data and communicating data findings, experience establishing and tracking program metrics including return on investment
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues independently - solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment
  • Customer service orientation with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations - ability to serve multiple customers (employees, managers, HR)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills - ability to interface with all levels of the organization, specific strength in influencing decision makers as well as setting and managing expectations
  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR or related field - graduate degree and/or MBA preferred
