Legal Secretary (Downtown Ft. Worth)
The law firm of Goodrich Postnikoff & Albertson, LLP is seeking a qualified LEGAL SECRETARY for its downtown Ft. Worth office.
About the Position
You will primarily support two attorneys. The expectation is that you will arrive with the skills necessary to function in a contributing administrative capacity immediately. You can expect a very busy environment and a medium to heavy workload.
The ideal candidate will have a high sense of urgency, take initiative, and be results oriented and energetic.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Drafting letters and legal documents as directed by the attorneys; proof reading, reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications; organizing client conferences, and attorney meetings; scheduling couriers.
- Transcribing dictation, scheduling depositions, preparing pleadings and correspondence and drafting discovery responses, scheduling court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions.
- Maintaining attorneys calendar by planning and scheduling events; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements; monitoring evidence-gathering; monitoring changes in litigation or transaction preparation requirements.
- Direct interfacing with individual clients, court clerks, court reporters and other attorneys.
- Documenting and inputting Attorney billable time.
- Obtaining appropriate signatures, photocopying and preparing for distribution via electronic mail, regular mail, telecopier and/or courier
- Effectively maintaining and updating organizational and client files.
- Providing a professional presence by answering, screening and directing telephone calls, mail and visitors in a timely manner.
- Interacting with internal and external parties to obtain materials and documentation needed to complete assignments.
- Completing other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)
- High school diploma
- 3-5 years of related experience within a law firm and/or corporate Legal department
- Demonstrated knowledge of Legal matters and complex document formats (i.e. contracts, briefs, summons, complaints and motions)
- Demonstrated understanding of technical Legal terminology
- Advanced typing ability (65 words per minute)
- Intermediate writing skills
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Word Perfect
- Interpersonal and professional communication skills
Other Desired Qualifications
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

This is a salaried nonexempt position, 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Alternative hours are 8:30am-5:30pm. Minimal overtime is required from time to time.
Salary Range: $31,200 to $39,520 per year depending on qualifications and service (equal to an hourly rate of $15.00 to $19.00 per hour).
Dress Code: Business Professional, Business Casual Fridays
Parking Garage fees are paid by the firm. Lunch coverage is coordinated with three other Legal administrative assistants.
