Legal Specialist

Principal Responsibilities



  • Communicate with Consumer and/or Consumers' Representative by telephone and written correspondence to attempt to bring resolution to unpaid accounts.  Use dialer technology to contact Consumer.

  • Counsel delinquent account Consumers to assist in finding funds to meet debt obligations.

  • Assign files to law firms based on Consumer's location.

  • Monitor law firm assignment to confirm proper placement.

  • Monitor acknowledgements from law firms of assignment receipt and file as necessary.

  • Review all legal documents for accuracy and legal compliance from law firms prior to forwarding to the Client.

  • Forward legal documents for notarizing and send processed legal documents to Attorneys for authorization to proceed with lawsuit.

  • Complete standard legal documents and send prepared legal documents to Client for review and approval.

  • File and maintain all documentation in Consumer files.

  • Field all questions from and give instructions to law firms regarding assigned cases.

  • Calculate court costs and Attorney fees.  Request payment checks to be sent to Attorney.

  • Provide status reports and Attorney performance feedback to Management on a weekly basis.

  • Monitor status updates and check requests for law firms.

  • Review bankrupt and deceased account files returned by law firms.

  • Contact Clients for settlement approvals.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations that regulate the collection industry.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with NCO policies and procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of functional area and company policies and procedures.

  • Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement.

  • Make recommendations to implement improved processes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.  Associates' or Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Previous legal experience preferred. 

  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

  • Excellent personal computer skills including Microsoft Office.  Knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and the Internet required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team fostered environment.

  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.

  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
