Legal Systems Software Engineer
Description:
eBay Inc. is seeking a senior software developer to deliver and support systems for its Legal Department which are used by a global department of over 200 employees and entire organization of over 12,000 employees and another 5,000 contractors. eBay Inc. has systems supporting:
- compliance training,
- electronic discovery,
- litigation holds and management, l
- law enforcement case management,
- stock & equity administration,
- contract management,
- intra-department document management,
- web content management,
- patent & intellectual property management,
- and matter & invoice management.
These systems are a mix of internally hosted and externally hosted applications with interfaces. Each system has enhancements to add additional functional every 3 to 6 months.
These systems are built on several underlying technologies including, but not limited to the following:
- Remedy AR workflow,
- Autonomy Cardiff business process and forms management,
- VB.NET,
- Java,
- Autonomy IDOL search,
- Autonomy Aungate Legal Holds,
- webMethods Integration Server for interfaces,
- Autonomy Interwoven Worksite/iManage,
- SharePoint 2007,
- Serengeti Tracker,
- Oracle,
- Microsoft SQL Server.
Qualifications:
The senior engineer will be expected to quickly learn all these technologies, the associated business processes supported by these technologies, and some of the primary power users for each system. New projects will be governed by the eBay Information Technology portfolio and project management processes and methodology. Enhancements, bug fixes, and operational projects will be governed by the eBay Information Technology IT Service Management processes and methodology which are based on ITIL principles.
The ideal candidate must have the following:
- At least seven years of experience as a software developer.
- At least five years of experience developing software utilizing Java or any Microsoft .NET programming languages.
- At least two years developing custom tables and supporting transactional queries or stored procedures in Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server relational database systems.
- At least one year of experience developing business intelligence systems including extract, transform, & load, creation of operational data stores, creation of standard reports, creation of multi-dimensional cubes, and trending reports.
- The ability to explain complex technologies to non-technical audiences, and to speak in non-technical language when gathering requirements for new projects or enhancements, or to resolve issues with non-Information Technology personnel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional skills that will enable the ideal candidate to quickly master these new systems are:
- At least one year developing custom business processes utilizing a leading business process management software such as Savvion, PegaSystems, Lombardi, Remedy AR, HP IT Governance, Autonomy Cardiff, K2.NET.
- At least one year supporting a document management system such as Documentum, OpenText, Hummingbird, Interwoven Worksite, IBM Content Manager, or SharePoint 2007 document management features.
- Experience supporting systems for corporate legal departments or large law firms.
- Formal training in ITIL processes and software.
