Job Summary: The Physician Assistant will conduct the pre-employment physical examination and clearance for hiring process, work related injury case management, and medical leave of absence issues. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all regulatory agency requirements and guidelines as related to hospital occupational healthcare.


 


Responsibilities include:  



  • Perform pre-placement evaluations including occupational history and physical examination and immunization screening. Administer vaccines in accordance with policy.
  • Conduct fitness for duty assessments; refer patients to various facilities where indicated;
  • Conduct assessment regarding work-related injury and illness, including needle sticks and blood and body fluid exposure
  • Review and interpret pulmonary function tests, electrocardiograms, fit testing, diabetic test results, measles/rubella titers and other diagnostic and clinic tests;
  • Demonstrate keen clinical diagnostic judgment and understanding of the concepts of infection control and occupational health.
  • Promote maintenance of beneficial health habits and prevention of illness among employees and volunteers; promotes safe work practices and working environments and maintains thorough written records, documentation and statistics.


 

Requirements



  • New York State licensure required
  • Minimum two years Occupational Health experience required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
