As an underwriting consultant you will: develop and maintain an extensive understanding of complex underwriting data and trends while attaining financial and marketing objectives. You will provide technical guidance, analyze data and make pricing recommendations.
- Review customer and partner applications, gather data and assess risk, providing accurate case documentation and sound decisions
- Evaluate financial risk in conformance with underwriting policies, procedures and methodologies, keeping in mind overall profit objectives
- Develop and maintain an understanding of state-specific requirements and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations
- Partner with customers, sales offices and agents to address demonstrated customer needs

Role Essentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics or a health-related field
- Prior underwriting experience, or comparable in-depth knowledge and understanding of underwriting practices
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
Role Desirables
- Previous experience in life or disability underwriting.
Reporting Relationships
- You will report to an Underwriting Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Operating Officer.
