Life Sciences Consulting Lead: Supply Chain Strategy & Transformation
Job description
As a Supply Chain Strategy Consulting Lead in our Life Sciences/Pharmaceutical practice area, ( in our GBS Distribution sector team,) you will be expected to lead and support complex life sciences projects both in competitive sales proposal situations and on client engagements.



Engagements typically involve technology, process and organizational change initiatives focused on quality by design, pharmaceutical product and process development, lean manufacturing, quality and regulatory, serialization, supply chain for consumer pharmaceuticals, and supply chain strategy and optimization as well as the implementation of software packages designed to help manage these processes/decisions, quality by design, late stage process development and tech transfer. Additionally these roles often involve projects involving biologics process engineering/control, lean manufacturing, quality and regulatory, contract manufacturing, and clinical supplies.



This role involves gathering facts, analyzing the client's business (competitors, markets, customers, value propositions, operational models, etc), drawing conclusions, and reporting upon that work. Proficiency in developing channel & client relationships, identifying & closing new business, & developing thought leadership in life sciences are required. This is a hands on sales & delivery role in a complex environment. Responsibilities include providing advice & strategic counsel to clients, oversight & accountability for delivery success, and client satisfaction.



The Supply Chain Strategy Consulting Lead will:

  • Provide client and IBM team leadership in support of projects that span requirements, design, development, and deployment, as well as in support of sales efforts for new and future work;
  • Lead and assist the identification, development, and closure of sales efforts in support of an identified sales target;
  • Provide life sciences industry guidance, strategies, and best practices;
  • Maintain life sciences industry references, approaches, IBM contacts and competitive analysis, in support of both general industry solutions and specific solutions for life sciences;
  • Build and lead internal communities of IBM industry practitioners;
  • Lead or contribute to the creation of IBM positions on specific life sciences industry topics;
  • Define, develop and use repeatable consulting industry solutions; and,
  • Transfer knowledge to local IBM teams through training and side-by-side engagement work.

  • This position requires travel 4-5 days per week. .

    It is also expected that newly hired resources into the Global Business Services U.S. practice live within a reasonable commuting distance (generally 50 miles) of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Hartford, CT; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Miami, FL; New York City, NY and surrounding area; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC.

    Required

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • At least 4 years experience in supply chain strategy and solution sales and delivery; consulting experience and credibility in Pharma/Life Sciences industry area
    • At least 3 years experience in quality by design, pharmaceutical product and process development, lean manufacturing, quality and regulatory, serialization, and/or supply chain for consumer pharmaceuticals
    • At least 4 years experience in one or more of the following: Tech Transfer, Biologics Manufacturing Process controls/engineering, and/or Clinical Supply Chain.
    • At least 4 years experience in current/future issues facing Pharma/Life Science organizations with experience helping clients to effectively address these issues
    • At least 3 years experience in assisting and leading in the proposal and sales and delivery of consulting solutions to senior-level pharmaceutical and life sciences client management
    • At least 4 years experience in oversight of multiple projects and ensuring consistent delivery, including experience correcting the course of projects by addressing unforeseen issues that arise
    • Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
    • English: Fluent


    Preferred

    • Master's Degree
    • At least 8 years experience in supply chain strategy and solution sales and delivery; consulting experience and credibility in Pharma/Life Sciences industry area
    • At least 8 years experience in quality by design, pharmaceutical product and process development, lean manufacturing, quality and regulatory, serialization, and/or supply chain for consumer pharmaceuticals
    • At least 10 years experience in one or more of the following: Tech Transfer, Biologics Manufacturing Process controls/engineering, and/or Clinical Supply Chain.
    • At least 10 years experience in current/future issues facing Pharma/Life Science organizations with experience helping clients to effectively address these issues
    • At least 8 years experience in assisting and leading in the proposal and sales and delivery of consulting solutions to senior-level pharmaceutical and life sciences client management
    • At least 6 years experience in developing and executing on a client business development plan.
    • At least 10 years experience in oversight of multiple projects and ensuring consistent delivery, including experience correcting the course of projects by addressing unforeseen issues that arise
    • At least 6 years experience in thought leadership, white papers on Life Sciences/Pharma industry,and consulting topics, etc
