Linux Administrator

TheLinux Systems Administrator is responsible for the deployment, management, and maintenance of a regionally diverse Linux environment. The Linux Systems Administrator will join a team of highly motivated individuals that focus on high performance, low latency trading systems, and have an opportunity to learn from that team. Knowledge should include basic experience working with Linux systems with a solid understanding of networking fundamentals.

What our Linux Systems Administrators do:

Our Linux Systems Administrators work on a team of highly motivated individuals that focus on high-performance, low-latency trading systems. This team deploys, configures, and maintains hardware and software to keep our network and infrastructure running at top efficiency.


More specifically, our Linux Systems Administrators:

Deploy physical hardware at local and remote sites

Work around market trading schedules to deploy and test
   configurations

Collaborate on building bare metal automated deployment systems

Patch and update systems while back testing against software 
  dependencies

Fulfill regular system management and IT Department requests

Communicate system configurations, including documentation


Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for Linux Systems Administrators who are proficient with technology and excited to solve interesting problems while learning and gaining experience with new technologies. Successful candidates will maintain high attention to detail while "seeing the big picture" as they develop new policies and procedures.


Key qualities in great candidates:

Experience administering Linux systems including proficiency with 
  Red Hat distributions and automated Linux operating system
  deployment (Kickstart, etc.)

Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, etc.

Basic development knowledge

Familiarity with open source monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti,
  etc.

2+ years’ experience with recent or emerging technologies

Solid understanding of basic networking

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Drive to identify and solve issues in a timely manner
