Position: Linux Architect                                   

Duration: Direct Hire

EXPERIENCE

The following are job requirements:

            - a BSCS or equivalent with 5+ years of experience

            - fluent in French and English

            - experience with Linux kernel architecture and hardware adaptations

            - experience with driver-level interfaces in Linux

            - expert Shell Programmer

            - expert in C and real-time multi-tasking including interrupt processing

The following would be advantages to the successful candidate:

            - development experience with ST's Linux distribution

            - familiarity with multi-processor and multi-core designs

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports to the leader of the Software Competency Center within the Advanced Development Center.  This group is responsible for creating, testing, and maintaining a distribution of re-usable software libraries that will be shared throughout Thomson's products.  The initial focus is on the products with embedded software (e.g., STBs, Home Gateways, Media Gateways).   At the core of this distribution is the Linux kernel, common applications, and drivers.  The successful candidate in this position would have a clear understanding and familiarity with Linux kernel and driver programming.   The applicant must also be familiar with kernel configuration and shell scripting.
