Seeking a Linux Systems Administrator responsible for building, operating, and maintaining all Linux servers in the COCO environment. Server environments include development, testing, and BETA. Key responsibilities include: Maintaining software patches for all Linux servers, Build servers from virtual and bare machines, Configuring and maintaining network services on servers, Maintain disk space, Write shell scripts to automate common administration tasks, Maintain machines using VMware administration tools
Responsible for:
- install, and maintain Linux operating system on intel based servers and configure networking
- production server support,
- assist with other infrastructure related hardware and software design, installation and configuration
- documentation

Consultants hired into GBS Public Sector will typically be located in an IBM office or at an IBM client site primarily in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In many cases, relocation to the Washington, DC area is required & is not reimbursable. However, we do have opportunities that require residence in other strategic locations in the USA . While most projects are in the DC metro area, Consultants must be able to travel to projects that are in the DC Metro

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 2 years experience in administering Linux (RHEL)operating system
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • English: Fluent


Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
  • At least 1 year experience in with Red Hat Directory server and Red Hat Satellite Server
  • At least 1 year experience in with Oracle middleware (WebLogic) and database (10g, 11g) technologies
  • At least 1 year experience in with Rational suite of software development tools (e.g., ClearCase, ClearQuest, RSA
  • At least 1 year experience in with VMWare Infrastructure
  • At least 2 years experience in with system and network engineering principles and system backup and recovery best practices,
  • Certified in CCNA, CCNP, CISSP
  • Security clearance of MBI
