Description

The Planet Internet Services needs individuals with high level computer knowledge and troubleshooting experience for the Advanced Services Team. The Linux System Administration Level I position is our entry level administrator position for people that are interested in a career that advances to high level administration tasks and team leadership. System Administrators are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the uptime, health and backups for thousands of dedicated servers. Teamwork is a key requirement to success in this position because it is mission critical work on a large scale. We look for individual initiative and independent thought and will provide a great opportunity, fast-paced environment, and workplace. Knowledge:

  • Intermediate knowledge of the Linux & BSD Operating System
  • Intermediate troubleshooting skills
  • Basic application level knowledge on multiple platforms
  • Basic knowledge of a Data center Environment

Skills:

  • Red Hat Linux, Fedora Core, CentOS and other popular Linux distributions
  • Knowledge of Apache versions 1 and 2 DNS (Bind, DJBDNS/TinyDNS)
  • Ability to compile Linux applications: PHP, Apache, Kernel, FTP, MySQL

Network fundamentals:

  • Network routing, TCP/IP, Firewall knowledge
  • Proficiency with Bash
  • Familiarity with: Exim, Sendmail, Qmail, Pure-ftpd, Proftpd, and SSH

Experience with:

  • cPanel, Plesk, Direct Admin Responsibilities: Customer facing support with paid and escalated customer issues; working tickets for customer outages and problems; working with the customers to develop, design, update, and implement new and current solutions; a strong will to provide perfection with customer service at a high level to obtain 100% Complete Satisfaction; a positive, hardworking, can-do attitude to compliment a fast-paced, growing environment; promptness, thoroughness, and attention to detail. May be required to perform other duties as assigned.


Required Experience

  • 2+ years hands-on technical experience with Linux or BSD
  • 2+ years hands-on technical experience with a web hosting control panel
  • Bachelor Degree in a computer related field or related experience a plus
  • Technical certifications ( RHCE, LPIC-2, MCITP, RHCDS, RHCSS, RHCA, etc.)
  • Quick learner
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Thorough Detail Oriented
  • Shift: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends
