Have you been involved in Linux administration long enough that you remember GNU and the IPO of VA Linux?
Do you plan your vacations around the Linux World Expo? Or do you at least ask a friend to bring you back a t-shirt?
Go Daddy is seeking a talented Linux/Unix systems administrator with experience with large Email systems. The ideal candidate will have both experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS systems and experience with automating large scale system builds and maintenance.
The ideal person in this role will be able to handle shifting priorities throughout the day.
What does the job entail?
- Utilizing Linux/Unix technologies such as:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS
- Networking TCP/IP
- DNS
- E-mail Protocols
- Qmail or other MTA
- Strong scripting skills (PHP,Perl, Bash or Python)
- Communicating clearly with multiple levels of employees including executives, business partners and your peers
- Producing timely and accurate results in a 24/7/365 on call environment
- Troubleshooting using the following is a plus: C, MySQL, and SAN and NAS technologies
- Managing large server environments (hundreds of servers)
- Configuring Management Systems (CFEngine, Puppet, etc)
- Using ingenuity to find creative solutions to complex problems
- Working to drive results with minimal direction

- Must be innovative.
- Must possess the ability to develop creative solutions to meet business and employee needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple high priority initiatives.
- The ability to work productively in an extremely fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
What do you need to do this job?
* 5 or more years experience in Linux systems administration.
* Bachelor's degree.
* Experience with large complex operating environments.
* Previous 24x7 on-call experience preferred.
* Ability to plan, document, and effectively implement projects and systems.
* Must work well under sustained pressure.
