Litigation/Labor Paralegal

Provide support to Litigation Management and Labor & Employment Law attorneys as required. Track litigation matters, track and process outside counsel bills for payment, prepare reports using databases, prepare correspondence and maintain files. Organize and maintain all records relating to litigation. Maintain matter management system database. Work with litigation database provided by a third-party to download files and prepare a weekly report for distribution to inside and outside counsel. Help maintain information flow and record keeping for a large docket of matters pending throughout the United States. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Supports legal staff by performing research, assisting in preparation of a variety of legal documents and undertaking projects which are varied in nature, conferring with the attorneys or the legal staff on unusual or highly complex matters for direction and guidance. Support ERISA benefits attorney in maintaining summary plan descriptions, preparing required filings such as 5500 reports, stock option plan filings and other benefits related documents. Must maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in course of employment.
Specific Tasks:
Service of process:
- Manage Powerbrief and assign all matters;
- Respond to subpoenas
Control and Management of Outside Spend
- Manage between 40 and 50 invoices that come in monthly from relationship firms which includes extracting information for invoice database, opening matters in time-management tool and forwarding invoices to appropriate instructing attorney;
- Research and respond to questions from relationship firms regarding status of outstanding invoices;
- Quarterly reporting for CMOS;
- One off reports for others;
- Weekly meetings with CT Tymetrix;
- Complete various tasks for on boarding process for lawfirms;

Litigation Holds/E-discovery
- Maintain Litigation Hold spreadsheet, includes updating spreadsheet with hold information;
- Gathering names and other information to complete spreadsheet to send to admin team for additions to do not term list;
- Address and respond to requests for access to e-mail accounts of termed individuals on the hold list;
- Research and respond to inquiries about holds and individuals subject to holds;
- Upcoming training for Navigant holds service;
Benefits Appeals
- Biweekly Benefits Appeals Meetings;
- Monthly Pension Appeals Meetings;
- Severance Appeals Meetings when necessary;
- Draft minutes for meetings as well as response letters;
- Field questions regarding appeals and letters;
- Miscellaneous work regarding clean up of documentation sent from NY.
5=10 years labor/litigation experience.
