Litigation Management Associate

About the Job

HomEq Servicing is a leading full service mortgage servicing company owned by Barclays Capital. HomEq offers unique opportunities throughout the organization and we are currently looking for a full-time Litigation Management Associate for our Raleigh offices.

Juris Doctorate is required from an accredited university with civil litigation experience preferred. Must have a minimum of 1-5 years in banking, mortgage servicing, legal or a credit environment. Candidates with a working knowledge of real estate transactions, bankruptcy and foreclosure law as well as federal statutes and regulations governing the practices of creditors and loan servicers are preferred.

Requirements include:

  • Juris Doctorate
  • Thorough knowledge of civil procedure
  • Good PC skills and knowledge of software applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to adapt successfully to a dynamic work environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning
  • Ability to handle complex and detailed explanations
  • Good analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

    Responsibilities include:

  • Manages loan level litigation relating to mortgage origination and servicing issues.
  • Develops strategy with local counsel to resolve matters in the most cost effective manner.
  • Analyzes documentation to determine exposure to investors and company.
  • Provides information and documentation for utilization by counsel in preparation of defense.
  • Analyzes settlement offers to determine merit.
  • Negotiates settlements and reviews agreements to verify requisite language is present.
  • Acts in accordance with investor guidelines and authority to settle matters escalating as appropriate.
  • Coordinates loss mitigation efforts with appropriate business units and counsel as necessary.
  • Updates database and reports with current information on status of litigation, strategy and critical events/dates.
  • Assists employees and senior executives in resolving customer complaints by researching and assembling documentation.
  • Monitors and tracks attorney/vendor performance.
  • Travels as required to attend depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings and trials.
