Cequent Performance Products (a TriMas company) is seeking a Logistics Analyst to join our team.  This position will be located at our Plymouth, Michigan facility. 


Cequent Performance Products (CPP) is an operating group that is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of a broad range of accessories for light trucks, sport utility vehicles, recreational vehicles, passenger cars and trailers of all types. Products include towing and hitch systems, trailer components and accessories, and electrical, brake, cargo-carrying and rack systems. 


The Logistics Analyst will become a member of the Logistics team and report to the Director of Logistics.  With support from the group you will actively manage multiple modes of transportation, possibly International or Domestic; assist the group in identifying opportunities for cost-effective improvements or areas of opportunity through experience and data analysis; provide training to cross-functional groups to enhance the overall company knowledge and understanding of freight issues; manage several freight carriers through issue resolution; create and maintain internal and external metrics which assist the organization to identify successes and opportunities for improvement.


 This position is currently 50% transactional, with the opportunity to develop processes and automated methods to reduce transactional detail.


 This position is targeted to be between $40 - $45k per year, plus benefits.

Responsibilities:



  • Analyze freight data for trends and opportunities for savings or process improvements.
  • Managing multiple aspects of International freight and inventory movement/control.
  • Dealing directly with freight carriers in order to resolve issues.
  • Creating metrics for internal compliance and spend control.
  • Monitoring carriers for performance to key metrics.
  • Assist cross-functional teams in enhancing knowledge and use of Logistics tools and methods.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support business changes or special projects.

 


Job Qualifications:



  • 2 - 4 years experience in working in a freight environment
  • A strong understanding of domestic and international freight ... all modes
  • Must be familiar with freight routing software, as well as online routing websites and online claims filing
  • Data analysis and Excel skills a must; Access skills a plus
  • Basic knowledge of vendor compliance guidelines
