Overview


Our Client has been a leader in Domestic Multi Modal freight services for their customers for nearly 50 years.  They specialize in TL Van, Intermodal, Dedicated Contract Carriage and Logistics.  Their most recent success has been in Logistics specializing in Full TL Brokerage including Van, Reefer and Flatbed.  They are building their logistics model regionally and are ready to open up in Indianapolis.


 


This position allows incumbent to direct all overall functions of a field Brokerage office serving customers in the Indianapolis and surrounding markets to grow Revenue/Margin while building a team by coaching and mentoring for their future success within the company. 


 


Responsibilities



  • Leadership

    • Hire, train and ongoing development of associates (both Inside Sales and Carrier Operations) that promotes Company’s Core Values, Morals and Ethics
    • Expectations Exchange with associates, no cookie cutter approach when leading and understand what they expect of incumbent.  Prepare annual, monthly and weekly plans to ensure associates have a clear understanding of your growth vision within branch as well as company goals.  Participate in their development and success

  • P&L 

    • Meet and exceed local branch goals for Sales and profitability
    • Understand Corporate goals and how selling the broad portfolio can grow local branch as well as company growth
    • Metrics established for both customer and carrier expectations to grow office

  • Customer growth

    • Develop branch by qualifying leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face cold calling, direct mail, email and overall networking
    • Maintain high margins and spot rates in a highly volatile and face pace environment • Increase sales numbers with current customer base and increase new accounts to surpass targets and even out seasonality swings • Implement short and long term sales strategy plan for office
    • Ensure customers receive superior on-time service through processes put in place with team and carrier expectations.

  • Carrier growth

    • Develop carrier base with exceptional carrier partners ensuring paperwork is always updated in system for freight carriage
    • Utilize carriers based on their needs and the needs of customers to create win/win’s for both
    • Understand freight lanes and seasonality freight for both customer and carrier base

  • Properly manage risk and maintain sensible business integrity in all business decisions.
  • General knowledge with local, state and federal DOT rules and regulations.

 


 


Qualifications


 



  • Complete P&L expertise (Gross Revenue, margin, operating income)
  • Facility/office start up knowledge
  • Expert in MW Truck Load Brokerage Market’s, specifically inbound/outbound Indianapolis and surrounding regions
  • Must have experience leading a team of both Sales and Carrier Operations team in a non asset TL setting
  • 5 years minimum experience in Transportation, 3 years min in TL Brokerage
  • Computer literate
  • Bachelor’s degree
