THEIR OPPORTUNITY – Our Client is in need of a Logistics Manager for their Iowa based manufacturing operation. You will manage all shipping, receiving, vehicle maintenance, trucks and drivers, repair parts and warehouse personnel. Key responsibilities include:
- Negotiating freight rates
- Ensure the company complies with all DOT regulations
- Receiving, inspection, warehousing and shipment of parts and accessories
- Oversee maintenance of all motorized equipment, i.e. fork trucks, graders, tractors, vans, and trucks
- Dispatching
- Insure Dealer files are accurate and well maintained and develop freight quotes for outbound freight to our Dealers
- Resolve shipping claims
- Maintain adequate inventory levels and ensure inventory accuracy
- Supervision of three warehousing and transportation supervisors, salaried support staff and 29 hourly employees
The position reports to the company’s Production Manager
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE
- 4 year college degree in logistics/transportation or equivalent experience
- Experience in shipping inbound/outbound freight and scheduling
- Firm understanding of all pertinent DOT regulations.
- Computer literate with a firm understanding of ERP software
- Ability to coach, mentor, and delegate to others
- Past participation in Continuous Improvement Programs
