Logistics Technician

The primary responsibility of this position is to create, monitor and complete shipments in the Schneider Logistics Operations System.  This individual is also accountable to ensure that the most cost effective carriers/modes are used.  As a member of customer service, the individual is also accountable to manage customer relationships in order to achieve specific key factor goals.  The individual will handle a variety of service requests and issues independently; this is accomplished by having a comprehensive understanding of all procedures, systems, and equipment used daily. Responsibilities include resolving problems, building a solid working relationship with all customers to understand their total service needs, and identifying service improvements to exceed the expectations of the customer.  This role is the critical foundation of the Schneider Logistics account operations team and is one in which strong communication, stress tolerance and organizational skills are key.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Create, monitor and complete shipments in SUMIT.

2.         Select cost effective carriers using available optimization tools to include rate negotiation.

3.         Communicate effectively and build a professional relationship with carriers, shippers and internal/external customers to strive to exceed their total service expectations.

4.         Respond to carriers/customers to ensure critical success factors are achieved.

5.         Monitor and resolve EDI errors on orders.

6.         Understand and complete all necessary customer specific tasks.

7.         Maintain strong Customer and supplier relationships.

8.         Resolve customer issues utilizing a continuous improvement mentality. 

9.         Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned which may include holiday, weekend or on-call coverage.

10.     Perform analysis, determine root cause, and articulate solutions to problems.  Perform reporting as required.

11.     Act as a positive role model for team members by providing support and assistance as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

1.     Post high school education and/or one year customer service experience required.

2.         Strong communication and negotiation skills.

3.         Strong analytical skills.

4.         Experience with CRT or PC with high attention to detail.

5.         Ability to make decisions and take appropriate action.

6.         Ability to prioritize workload.

7.         Ability to work as part of a team and provide assistance when necessary.

8.        Demonstrate initiative and tolerance for stress.
