Position Purpose:
The Loss Control Specialist, under the direction of the Risk Manager, researches, plans, develops and implements required and essential training programs to all employees.
Job Summary:
The Loss Control Specialist, under the direction of the Risk Manager, researches, plans, develops and implements required and essential training programs to all employees. The Loss Control Specialist audits ranches to ensure compliance with Primus, GlobalGap and OSHA/Cal-OSHA. The Loss Control Specialist ensures that the safety programs and activities for designated employees are up to date with legislation and coordinates and/or performs trainings. The Loss Control Specialist develops safety and health policies and procedures that ensure the Company’s compliance with federal and state regulations. The Loss Control Specialist provides direction and technical expertise to supervisors and managers to coordinate and implement health and safety practices, programs, activities and compliance.
General Responsibilities include:
· Enforces safety and liability policies and procedures.
· Develops and implements RAC’s written Accident Prevention Program including effective training programs for the reduction of liability claims and employee injuries.
· Ensures proper use of Company’s’ agriculture equipment through observation of safety practices.
· Conducts safety related training and assist the Risk Manager with various departmental safety committees and meetings.
· Performs all hazard assessments and ranch inspections and provides findings along with corrective action recommendations to management.
· Assists Production Assistants with preparation of Primus and GlobalGap inspections.
· Ensures that employees are following protocols set forth by Driscoll’s Food Safety Program.
· Ensures employees are adhering to proper hygiene and sanitation policies.
· Works closely with Ranch Managers, Production Managers, and VP’s/Partners for future training needs.
· Prepares training calendar for each entity/ranch, ensuring that all employees receive proper instruction.
· Receives training, conducts training alongside third party training company for continued education.
· Along with Risk Manager and Fleet Administrator, conducts accident investigations for serious employee injury and/or damage of Company property.
· Working with Fleet Administrator, conducts the required, random DOT drug and alcohol testing for Company’s CDL holders.
· May conduct random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing as required.
· May perform on-site and/or work area specific ergonomic assessments.
· Performs other related duties as required.
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance and Risk, Safety, Education or Human Resources or an equivalent of three (3) years of experience in Safety, Training, Employee Development or Risk Management.
· WPCU, ARM or CLCS designation highly desired.
· Experience in agriculture a must.
· Previous experience working with OSHA, Cal-OSHA, Primus and GlobalGap preferred.
· Excellent written and verbal skills, including public speaking in both English and Spanish.
