MARS ADVISOR
SUMMARY
Teen Father Program Case Manager (MARS Advisor) is an exempt position under the supervision of the MARS Program Director. This position will work within the system monitoring services for pregnant and parenting teens.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Prepare individualized academic, attendance and social service plans
- Conduct small group and individual counseling sessions
- Develop peer groups identifying appropriate curriculum an resources
- Meet with local service providers and agencies to address the needs of teen fathers population
- Coordinate outreach efforts with community health organizations, educational institutions, employment operations and other significant support systems
- Conduct workshops and presentations on topics including holistic health, family parenting skills, reproductive health education, substance abuse prevention and job skills development
- Compile information regarding the implementation of program services and prepare written reports
- Make social services referrals, follow up outcomes and update student profiles
- Other duties, as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Ability to review data and prepare necessary reports
- Experience utilizing and developing alternative education programs and supports
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, official agencies and representatives of government and local groups
- Knowledge of the Philadelphia County Assistance Programs, welfare reform and other social services programs impacting and advocating for adolescents
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university
