Members of the Missile Defense National Systems Engineering Team (MDSET) develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Integration Strategy for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position supports the agency's Model and Simulation (M&S) Team which is chartered with executing all system engineering processes necessary to support for MDA/DES with additional emphasis on Integrated Theater / Regional threats and Early Intercepts.





Job Description:

The candidate will lead the Capability Planning Specification (CPS) development for the Modeling and Simulation use cases for the Missile Defense Systems Engineering Team (MDSET). The lead will be responsible for assimilating all use case data, translating use cases into capabilities, developing functions required for capabilities, developing an initial set of interfaces, developing Critical Performance Measures and documenting results in a CPS. The CPS enables the development of M&S system level requirements by translating use case capabilities and user needs into requirements. Initially, an Overarching CPS, Ground Test CPS and Performance CPS will be developed.





Basic Qualifications:


The position requires strong coordination, communication and horizontal/vertical integration skills within MDSET and MDA. Experience in operational, system, and technical architecture analysis and concept development for major RDT&E programs is required, with a strong modeling and simulation background. Understanding of system design trades and engineering is required. The person must be a self starter that works with a team to develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems.





Desired Qualifications:

Specific experience with the BMDS element capabilities (such as C2BMC, Aegis weapon system, SM-3 Block IIA missile, GMD, X-band radars, etc.) is highly desired. System experience and versatility in several areas (i.e., BMDS related sensors, weapons, battle management and command, control, communications) is desirable. Familiarity with BMDS related technology and phenomenology is desirable. Experience / knowledge interfacing with multiple MDA two letter groups (e.g., DE, BC, GM and AB) is desired.





Required Education: BS with MS preferred in Engineering or applicable Engineering Sciences, Quantitative Science, and typically more than 15 years experience in a system engineering classification.
