Members of the Missile Defense National Systems Engineering Team (MDSET) develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Integration Strategy for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position supports the agency's Model and Simulation (M&S) Team which is chartered with executing all system engineering processes necessary to support for MDA/DES with additional emphasis on Integrated Theater / Regional threats and Early Intercepts.





Job Description:


The Systems Engineer will evaluate existing M&S development plans, evaluating constraints and performance gaps, to develop system-level M&S support plans. Additional responsibilities with include developing and documenting M&S verification approaches to include defining design and requirements verification definitions, processes and procedures. Development of a system-level verification matrix for M&S requirements, in support of evaluation of system functions, behaviors and engagement conditions, with a focus on M&S performance leading to System level performance verification is also included. The engineer will develop and coordinate BMDS technical objectives and compliance scenarios to establish system performance criteria under specified critical engagement conditions. Primary tasking will be development of deliverable SE products and plans, evaluation of changes to the baseline, and identifying alternative solutions to maintain technical content and intent. Position(s) can either be located in Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO.





Basic Qualifications:

Knowledge of SE processes for the development of M&S requirements, evaluation and assessment documentation. Emphasis required on System verification methodology supporting battle management, command and control and sensor functionality and associated information exchange requirements tied to specified performance metrics that are traditionally demonstrated in system level digital simulations. A thorough familiarity with DOORS and System Architect are required.





Desired Qualifications:

Candidates should have strong social and presentation skills and be able to perform in a fluid geographically distributed team environment with demonstrated strong System Engineering principles with a familiarity of the Missile Defense program or one of BMDS Element Programs.





Required Education: BS with MS preferred in Engineering or applicable Engineering Sciences, Quantitative Science, or computing field and typically more than 10 years experience in a system engineering classification.
