MICROSTATION DESIGN ENGINEER

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• P.E. preferred
• Ability to become registered in the State of ND and/or MN
• Proficient in current versions of Microstation (V8I Select Series 2) and GEOPAK software
• Minimum three to five years of experience designing civil engineering projects with Microstation and GEOPAK software
• Must be willing to learn InRoads software
• Must keep up with current versions of Microstation, GEOPAK and InRoads
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD and Land Desktop software and conversions between AutoCAD and Microstation

SUMMARY:

Microstation Design Engineer is responsible for the planning, design and drafting of detailed construction drawings, topographical profiles, and related maps and specifications used in planning and construction of Transportation and Water Resource Engineering projects, utilizing primarily Microstation and GEOPAK software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Will serve as the lead Microstation coordinator on projects that will require an extensive understanding of the software including GEOPAK
• Will train or provide assistance to Engineers and technicians to help them resolve difficult operating tasks or drawing production problems
• Uses computer aided engineering and design software to prepare and design plans, calculates and prepares engineering documents for respective engineering discipline, including details, equipment schedules and cost estimates for projects, including the selection and application of engineering systems and materials in accordance with the latest governing codes
• Prepares design computations and quantity estimates under direct supervision of licensed engineer
• Required to learn company design standards
• Works within designated department but may be required to perform work from other departments
• Coordination of project duties with other engineers, surveyors, technicians, and various staff and sub-consultants
• Establishes and maintains cordial and professional working relations with clients and contractors

$45,000 to $65,000 DOE
